Each church is called to follow Jesus Christ as its head (Ephesians 5:23). With Christ as the Head and leader of the Church, all members are subject to Him. God saw fit to provide leadership here on earth as well. Elders are an important group of leaders required to be of great character and spiritual maturity as shepherds/pastors to the church. They are under subjection to Christ and care for the church just as Christ does. Menu must meet the qualities (Titus 1:6-9) of an elder as defined in God's Holy Word. According to Titus 1:5, we appoint Elders to lead the local congregation of the saints in each city.
Proper leadership of the church is key to fulfilling it's purpose. Without proper leadership, the church may fall prey to false prophets. The church at Kibler Avenue has appointed Steve Hewitt and Holland Kellar to be elders ("shepherds" or "pastors"). As such, they oversee the spirituality of the congregation. It is in these men, with whom we entrust the direction, the care, and the growth of our church family.
